Mass of Reconciliation
Mass of Reconciliation
In the 2009 we are commemorating the 20th anniversary of the collapse of Communist dictatorship in Central and Eastern European Countries, and thereby regain of freedom by previously subdued nations. The result was a new European order, based on truth, reconciliation and solidarity. Polish-German reconciliation and the breakthrough Reconciliation Mass from 12 of November 1989 had a significant meaning. Both events took place during the Berlin’s Wall fall, one of the most powerful symbols of Europe’s division. The memorable peace gesture shared between the first polish democratic prime minister Tadeusz Mazowiecki and the leader of reuniting Germany Helmut Kohl, became a symbol of the change.
